Gonzalo Higuain moved to the top of the World Cup scoring chart with his hat-trick against Korea Republic on Thursday. Additionally, he joins Emilio ButragueƱo and Michel as the only Madridistas to score three or more goals in a World Cup match.

Emilio ButragueƱo's feat dates back to the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, where he scored four goals against Denmark. Michel became the second Madridista to do so in 1990 against Korea Republic in Udine, Italy.

Higuain also became only the third Argentine to score three goals in one World Cup match. Guillermo Stabile did it back in 1930 and Gabriel Omar Batistuta scored hat-tricks in both 1994 and 1998.
